5 strange questions from celsa:

1) Would I be mad to enrol in EK511?

Hmm... A quick google informs me that EK511 is actually Eric, a 24 year old male from Charlotte, North Carolina, and (presumably) single. Based on that premise, "enrol" sounds like something that should be pronounced in a French accent, and could be energetic, soothing, amusing, or gross (or some combination thereof).

Bottom line: it's up to you, but the airfares could be prohibitive.

2) What is time?

An illusion caused by our inability to percieve that everything is happening everywhere simultaneously.

3) What is the probability that the answer to this question is equal to 1?

0.5, and Schrödinger wants his cat back. I think. Maybe.

4) No really: What is time?

I don't know! I didn't do it!

5) Am I crazy to suggest that time was divided into 12 hours for the day because that is readily approximated by the number of hand-spans (at the end of an arm at full extension) that fit into a sky when a person is standing on an open plain? (ie: Hold your arm out toward the horizon. Turn your hand- palm facing you, thumb upward so that the lower edge is in line with the horizon from your perspective. Place the index finger of your opposite hand on top of your thumb to "hold the place" as you move your first hand to sit on top of that index finger. Repeat, working your way up the 'sky'. Report your findings on whether this works for you and whether you think I'm insane.

I think that sounds like an excellent reason, and yes, it did work for me, too.

As for your sanity, I don't think this will alter it much one way or the other.

I just wanted to take a minute to encourage you to join a new community called ljunited , a community dedicated to working towards defending and restoring the original promises made to LiveJournal's members, standing up for the free speech of LiveJournal's members, restoring LJ's original strong support for Open Source software, and restoring community participation in the successful operations of LiveJournal.

1. What is your SCA Name? Aeddan ap Andraes (and one day, I may even get around to registering it!)

2. What time and where do you portray? The name is ~12th century Welsh, but I tend to wear Viking more often than not.

3. In plain English describe your device. Still working on that one.

4. How long have you been in the SCA? 12, 13 years? Something like that.

5. Do you have any special titles you have earned? A Silver Rapier, and a Baronial Commendation.

6. What kingdom and local group do you belong to? The Canton of Cairnfiall, in the Barony of Stormhold, in the Kingdom of Lochac.

7. Do you have preferred colors for your SCA Persona? Burgundy is nice.

8. What is your war that you look forward to going to every year? Festival is the only real war event that I go to these days.

9. Do you hold any offices? Nope.

10. Favorite memory from an event? That would be the Festival where I won the Baroness's Rapier Tourney (much to everyone's surprise, including my own - at that stage I was almost always out by the third or fourth round), and received my BC from Rudolph and Nicolette (B&B Stormhold at the time).

11. Are you a fighter? What kind? Fencer and archer, and someday I'll be a heavy as well.

12. Are you crafty (making things)? Not as much as I'd like to be.

13. Do you teach classes at events? No.

14. Do you play instruments at events? No.

15. Do you dance at events? Not really, no. I used to, but can't really be bothered these days.

16. Do you feel that there is enough flirting and chivalrous behavior in the SCA? Can't say that I've paid much attention to that - I've been too busy flirting and being chivalrous. :-)

17. Are you a "Black Hat" or a "White Hat"? Phrygian cap.

18. What is one of the reasons you've remained in the SCA? Lots of friends, a sport that I really enjoy, I think that covers it.

19. What peerage(s) do you aspire to? At the moment, none.

20. Who was Crown when you joined the SCA? I think it was Stephen & Elina who rules the Kingdom of the West at that time, but for the life of me I have not been able to find out who were our Price and Princess then.

21. If you are a Peer, who was the Crown that elevated you? None, as yet. :-)

22. Have you lived in more than 1 kingdom and which ones? Lochac & West!

23. Have you helped found a group? No.

24. Have you had any house affiliations? The Flying Ypotryll.

This is just amazing. A quick summary: (heart) cells that have been deprived of oxygen for more than five minutes don't die from lack of oxygen, they die when their oxygen supply is resumed. Fascinating stuff.
